This week (15 May 2022) I travelled to Crystal Palace to compete in one of the London Regional Qualifying events for the IRC. There were 63 athletes in the TS3 category many of which had previously qualified and raced for the South East and London regions.
I felt excited as I had never raced this event before and knew it would be a fast race as the bike section was on the road.
My swim went well and I was the fastest girl out of the pool which gave me an advantage going into transition. Despite a slow transition I went out on the bike and was pleased to see that the road was dry for the hilly 6.7km bike.
Returning my bike to transition was smooth where I changed into running shoes and went out for 1 lap of the park finishing with a 600m run on the running track (2.4km in total) finishing in front of the staging they used for the Games.
