This was the first local triathlon of the year with thirteen Beachborough and Brackley triathletes taking part. It was the first time we had raced for some, and all were feeling nervous.
We all arrived early to walk the course together and help settle our nerves before we racked our bikes and put on our swimming hats.
The race started and the supporters were ready to cheer us all on. We were all whizzing around on the bike and run course at the same time, so supported each other as we passed, which was great.
It was a sunny, but windy day, which made it a bit cold from the pool to transition but we warmed up quickly on the ride.
Everyone was outstanding and worked really hard to finish and earn their medal on a tricky course. Even when Jamie S. fell off his bike, he got straight back on to finish, showing real determination. Some people also won trophies after finishing first and second which was amazing!
This was my first triathlon of the season and my first time in TS1. I enjoyed running to the finish with Jamie as we pushed each other to the end, even though we were in different categories.
It was a fantastic event and experience for everyone. The Marshalls were very friendly and we look forward to going back to Southam in the autumn.
